The International Society of Sustainability Professionals (ISSP) has its annual conference coming up May 8-10, in Chicago.  In addition to speakers from GRI, Alaska Airlines, the Nature Conservancy, and the Presidio Institute, the summit of sustainability professionals offers a pre-conference workshop led by Bob Willard on leadership skills to transform an organization to a sustainable culture. Check out conference details here. ISSP is an international association of more than 700 sustainability professionals.  Its aim is to improve the skills of practitioners through education, knowledge sharing, and research.
If this resource isn’t on your list of “go to’s”, you might want to add it.  It’s EPA’s page for state and local government officials to find information on the EPA site:  http://www.epa.gov/epahome/statelocal.htm
The Association of Legal Administrators ( ALA) has its annual conference this year April 14-17 at National Harbor, MD (DC area).  I’m a veteran of many ALA regional and annual conferences during the years I was the statewide administrator of legal support and technology for the California Attorney General’s Office.  I can attest to ALA’s value in contributing knowledge, expertise, and networking connections to legal office administrators.  You can count on ALA to help you connect with other managers involved in greening their firm’s and law department’s business practices.  Learn best practices in administrative areas and apply your knowledge of sustainability to facilitate your business units’ adoption of more efficient and eco-friendly business practices.  Check out ALA’s conference schedule and details.
If you’re in the D.C. area during April, don’t miss the first Earth Month 2013 at Union Station.  Earth Day’s news release promises “the month-long event will feature interactive, eco-friendly experiences throughout Union Station designed to raise awareness of environmental issues and encourage sustainability.”  Earth Day 2013 is April 13.  Not too soon to start planning activities for your office to celebrate Mother Earth and build momentum for your office goals. Earth Day’s website has ideas to get you going.
